Dinah Nelken (1900 – 1989) was a German writer known for her anti-fascist beliefs and her literary works. In the 1920s, her short stories were published in the Berlin press. She wrote her novel "Eineinhalb Zimmer Wohnung" while living in the artist colony of Wilmersdorf in 1932. She emigrated to Vienna with her partner in 1936 and later fled to Italy after the annexation of Austria by Germany in 1938. She returned to West Berlin in 1950 and was involved in the pacifist initiative called "Künstler für den Frieden" (artists for peace) in the 1970s and 1980s. Dinah Nelken was recognized with several awards for her literary works.
