Al Banx was the professional name of J. Albert Banks (1890-1967). During WWII he wrote a regular column in the Gazette that kept local servicemen up-to-date on events taking place back home. Banx delighted readers of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette with his regular panels filled with action, wry commentary and a motley cast of characters. His cartoons were featured regularly in the sports pages. An exhibition room at the Worcester Public Library is dedicated to him.
